MET TRAGIC DEATH
_________________________
It was near the end of April, 1929 when John Warren Wisdom, 23 years, 5 months, 23 days old, of Flint, Michigan, formerly of Cherokee County, Kansas, met a tragic death near Richland, Missouri, Thursday afternoon.
John was on his way home from Michigan on account of the illness of his mother, who lives east of Columbus on the Salmon place. He was traveling with his wife Mary and their son Richard.
A short distance from Richland he ran out of gas and walked back to Richland for a supply.
He caught a ride back to his car on a truck. The driver slowed down but for some reason did not stop and John jumped to the ground. He fell beneath the wheels, however, in some unexplainable manner and was killed. The truck driver still never stopped, and this all happened in front of his wife and 1 year old son.
John Warren Wisdom had lived in the vicinity of Columbus all of his life and was well known here. He went to Flint, Michigan, to work about a year before his death.
He was married only three years ago to Mary Sisney, who, with son, Richard, survive. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Alice Wisdom, two brothers, Luther and Virgil Wisdom of Columbus and five sisters, Lily Wisdom of Columbus, Mrs. Julia Willard of Wentworth, Missouri, Mrs. Dora Hestings of Miami, Mrs. Ora Jarrett of Columbus, and Mrs. Lydia Hearrell of Arkansas.
Funeral services were held at the Greenlawn Baptist church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon and conducted by Rev. Derfelt. Burial was at the Greenlawn cemetery in the charge of the Jones-Ruhland Undertaking Co.
This is my great aunt, Mary Frances Sisney's, first husband. She was the daughter of James Monroe and Belle Bowan Sisney.
